Then the escalation followed with a large-scale invasion on February 24, 2022. The features and photostories in his book \u201cUkraine \u2013 a European War\u201d start at the end of September 2021 and end more than a year later with following up with his camera a combat mission of the International Legion.
\nThe (photo)journalist from Bamberg has travelled Ukraine as a whole to portray people at war. The b\/w pictures and texts witness fortitude, escape, mourning, resistance and death as well as hope and courage.<\/p>\n

Regularly the (photo-) journalist visits the combat-zone of Donbas. Out of his travels various features for Spiegel-Online and different publications resulted. His new book \u201cDonbas- Europe’s forgotten war\u201d contains photos and written features and has been published by Erich Wei\u00df publishing house.<\/p>\n

There is a farmer from Kongo, who lost his leg due to the detonation of a grenade. The elderly woman from a village close to the trenches in the Eastern Ukraine. Almost only aged people remained stayed there. Or a girl in Iraq, who lost her leg, her brother and her mother, because fighters laid booby\u00a0traps in her home town of Mosul.<\/p>\n

The detonations of bombs and grenades shatter for a lifetime.<\/p>\n

These donations guarantee the continuation of the Red Cross nurses\u2019 work in Lviv, Ukraine. This means, the pensioners living in poverty will not be let down. The film \u201cWinter in Lviv\u201d is in the main focus of this campaign. The film was made by Till Mayer (director & camera) with Pirmin Styrnol (director), Hendrik Steffens (camera & cut), Maik Styrnol (music, sound & web-design) and Dustin Hemmerlein (camera & cut). \u201cWinter in Lviv\u201d won the Coburg Media Award 2018 and was elected \u201cBest Documentary\u201d, both at the film festival \u201cReact Short Film Festival\u201d (Italy) and \u201cPorto7\u201d (Portugal).<\/p>\n

Those portrayed are people with disabilities, fighting to lead dignified lives, each and every day. In the Gaza Strip, in refugee camps, in Congo, in the Ukraine, in the villages of Uganda, Vietnam and Laos. But also refugees in Germany and victims of war trauma in the U.S. Their lives are zones of barriers.<\/p>\n
